Today was a very special day for all of us on the Lake Anna Elite Anglers team. We held our second community service project of the season and hosted A Day of Fishing for Children with Special Needs. To say today was a memorable experience for everyone involved is a complete understatement.
First each of the anglers were paired with a participating child and stopped at three different stations that were set up,there was a backyard Bass fishing game,a knot tying station, and "Snackle Tackle" station where the children got to fill their tackle boxes with Goldfish, Swedish Fish, and Gummi Worms as well as pick up some extra gifts that had been donated for them.
Next up it was time to fish, our anglers had the joy of teaching some of the children how to bait hooks, cast, and a few were fortunate enough to catch some fish. BIG thank you to everyone involved today and a HUGE THANK YOU to the Lake Anna State Park for partnering with us for this event, Smith Minnow Farm for donating the Nightcrawlers, Strike King/Lews for the rod and reel combos (these went home with every child), Amber Hayes for the custom made tumblers, Montpelier Center for Arts and Education for the sunglasses.
Thank you to Ranger Lauri for the Bass fishing game and knot tying, Snookie Risch for coming out and joining us and taking pictures, our team Treasurer/ photographer Stephanie and all the parents for all the memorable photos.
